Let the Sunshine In

After last week's election, I feel compelled to spread a message of love and tolerance. Here's hoping we can be a ray of sunshine to each other through our deeds, with our words and in our hearts.

October Days

The air is getting cooler, the leaves are gorgeous shades of red, orange and gold and we've been eating lots of cider donuts—it must be fall in New England. Such a beautiful time of year. Here are a few colorways of a new autumn-inspired pattern.

I love it when people send me photos of items they make with my fabric—especially since I don't know how to sew very well. Pat Donovan (aka Chickoteria) forwarded this darling baby tee and hat she created with my Here Kitty, Kitty fabric from Spoonflower. Perfect for her tiny niece. And I love how she styled the photo for Fall, too!

Not Just a Party Girl Anymore…

I've been thinking long and hard about my branding lately. Many of you may know that I originally called my creative business Shindig Design Studio. It seemed like such a great fit when I was creating invitations. 'Shindig' means party, or social gathering, and the retro vibe was perfect for my design aesthetic. It was even a nickname, bestowed upon me by a good friend back in my old college days.

But as I plunged more and more into illustrating and designing surface patterns, the name Shindig suddenly seemed limiting. And as I licensed my first greeting card, I realized I really wanted my own name printed on the back, not Shindig Design Studio. 

So now, as I role out my new web site, I decided it was the perfect time to make the switch. The artist formerly known as Shindig Design Studio is now Shannon Hays (Design and Illustration). Designer, illustrator, surface pattern designer, doodler. Who still loves a good party…
